Making your Job a Mission

(How we think life will go)

Growing up I never thought, "I'm going to create a business where I paint furniture and do it for the Lord." I never thought, "I will go to college for over 6 years, get a masters degree in speech-language pathology and then spend most of my time as an artist painting." But then again do any of us really end up where we planned?

(How life usually goes)

One thing I love about the Lord is that he takes our plans, and puts His own plans into motion. In college I had a plan. I would go to college, graduate, get married, get a job, pay off my debt and then have kids. Can I tell you something?? It definitely didn't work out that way. Not at all. But the Lord took my plans and worked them for his good. I know in our lives we many times have to let go of the plans we have for ourselves, whether big or small, and accept a new idea of what our life will look like. Over this last year, I think everyone has had their life impacted in many ways that they never expected. Sometimes letting go of these self-imposed scenarios is difficult because we aren't ready to move on, but the Lord always has the ability to take and make all things good.

When we remember that whatever work we are doing, whether it is parenting, a career or if we are in transition it can be done for His purpose. Romans 8:28 "We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Many times I have looked at the verse from Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord"and have used that to direct my life.

My prayer for you today is that you can let go of what you believe your life "should" look like and open up your life to His plans. For me, it was completely different than I ever expected and I'm sure it will continue to transition. For you, you may have known your calling since you were little. Either way, I pray that the Lord leads you today and that we can work toward the greater calling that we each have. As always, if there is anything I can pray about for you, I would love to. Feel free to reach out anytime!

Love and prayers,

Autumn
